Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Advisor Safety, Health & Environment for its Abu Dhabi operations. You will develop and oversee comprehensive safety, health, and environmental programs, ensuring compliance with UAE labor laws and international standards.

You will collaborate with heads of departments to integrate safety into planning and execution, monitor program effectiveness, and drive continuous improvement.

Job Description

We're looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Advisor Safety, Health & Environment to join our organization in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive safety, health, and environmental programs across our operations. You will work collaboratively with department heads, team supervisors, and employees to ensure full compliance with UAE labor laws, international safety standards, and organizational policies. Your analytical expertise and commitment to transparency will be instrumental in fostering a culture of safety and environmental responsibility while minimizing risks and protecting our workforce.

• Develop, implement, and maintain safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures aligned with UAE regulations and international best practices
• Conduct comprehensive hazard assessments and risk analyses to identify potential dangers and recommend effective mitigation strategies
• Perform regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses; document findings thoroughly; and implement corrective and preventive actions
• Design and deliver safety training and awareness programs to employees at all organizational levels
• Maintain detailed records of safety performance metrics, incidents, and compliance documentation with meticulous organization
• Collaborate with operational teams to integrate safety considerations into planning and execution phases
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and recommend continuous improvements based on analytical findings
• Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related inquiries and concerns from all stakeholders with empathetic support
• Stay current with changes in UAE labor laws, safety regulations, and emerging industry standards
• Prepare comprehensive safety reports and presentations for management and regulatory authorities
• Coordinate with external agencies and regulatory bodies on safety compliance matters and maintain transparent communication
• Mentor and support team members in developing their safety competencies and fostering an inclusive safety culture

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of professional experience in safety, health, and environment management
• In-depth knowledge of UAE labor laws, safety regulations, and industry standards
• Proven expertise in hazard identification, risk assessment, and mitigation strategy development
• Strong proficiency in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation
• Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver effective safety training programs
• Proficiency with safety management systems and relevant software applications
• Leadership and mentoring capabilities to support team development
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a decisive approach to safety challenges
• NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) certification or equivalent qualification
