Overview

The Accounting Assistant is responsible for processing invoices, expenses and reconciliation of credit card statements and executing BACS with the necessary approvals. You will maintain internal controls using POs, accurate coding and authorization sign offs, and be responsible for answering and resolving supplier queries in a timely manner. This position reports to the Financial Controller for Teneo Strategy and is part of the wider Finance & Ops team. The role is based in Dubai, with eligibility to obtain dual employment in Saudi Arabia as occasional travel may be required to Riyadh.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Accounting: Ensure all purchase ledger accounts are accurate and updated on system; record supplier invoices, expenses and credit card costs accurately and timely; ensure costs are properly authorised prior to payment; ensure credit card statements are authorised and posted monthly; ensure invoices meet requirements and are correctly addressed; ensure timely payment of all suppliers and expenses; record and post petty cash transactions; perform bank reconciliations (incl. foreign accounts); manage daily banking of cheques and petty cash as instructed; match supplier invoices to correct PO numbers; request and reconcile supplier statements regularly; run Aged Creditors report, flag credits and overdue invoices, and identify missing invoices; respond promptly to supplier information requests; maintain and update filing on a weekly basis; compile information for external auditors as required; ensure compliance with internal timetables; update bank cash reporting and intercompany transfers when required; provide system training to new employees; process accounts payable and accounts receivable in Oracle NetSuite ERP; reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions; assist in preparing financial reports (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow); monitor accounting system compliance with standards and regulations; prepare and file tax returns (sales and payroll tax); support annual audits; perform ad-hoc analysis and reporting; assist with procure-to-pay processes.
  • Operational Support: Collaborate with operations teams to coordinate accounting processes; identify and implement process improvements for operational efficiency; work with IT and operations teams for seamless integration of accounting systems; undertake special projects related to operational and accounting integration; serve as a liaison between accounting and operations teams, ensuring clear communication.
  • Additional competencies: Technical: ensure accuracy of reports and data; proactively improve internal financial systems; make timely decisions; proficient with mainstream software; show initiative; identify and resolve issues; manage workload; handle multiple tasks. Relationship Building: develop strong relationships with colleagues and external suppliers; act as a cooperative team player. Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Qualified accountant (CA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent).
  • At least 1 year of experience in accounting and bookkeeping.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Experience using Oracle NetSuite ERP or a similar accounting system.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks; attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Experience within another consulting or professional services firm.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
