Job summary

Etihad Airways in Abu Dhabi is seeking a highly experienced Captain Instructor to lead training and operations across the A320 fleet. You will train pilots to maintain exceptional safety, performance, and adherence to procedures, while guiding crews through complex multi-crew operations.

The role requires extensive A320 experience, PIC and TRI/TRE capabilities, and a commitment to high standards within a premier international airline.

Qualifications

• Total flight time: 5,500 hours.
• PIC time: 2,500 hours.
• 5,500 total hours and 2,500 PIC hours.
• FMS coupled to APFDS on multi-crew operations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and security of crew, passengers, cargo, and aircraft at all times.
• Lead flight and cabin crew with decisive leadership and CRM.
• Operate in line with fuel and sustainability policies.
• Deliver On Time Performance and reliability.
• Conduct training in line with CAR-FCL, CAR-AIR OPS, and Ops Manual.

• Ensure the safety and security of crew, passengers, cargo, and aircraft at all times.
• Exercise full command from taxi-out to final engine shutdown.
• Lead flight and cabin crew with decisive leadership and effective CRM.
• Operate efficiently and responsibly in line with company fuel and sustainability policies.
• Deliver consistent On Time Performance to meet our commitments to reliability and guest satisfaction.

Train, lead, and elevate

As an A320 Captain Instructor, you are a role model within Etihad Airways—authorised to conduct training in line with GCAA CAR-FCL and CAR-AIR OPS, and the policies and procedures in the Etihad Airways Operations Manual Part A and D.

• Exhibit instructor competencies and uphold training standards.
• Deliver high-quality training across pilots’ core competencies (Knowledge, Skills, Attitude) and resilience.
• Be a positive role model to all personnel across Flight Operations.
• Provide feedback on training systems and courses to drive continuous improvement.
• Develop the potential and skills of Etihad pilots across our global network.

Minimum requirements

• Total time: 5,500 hours
• PIC time: 2,500 hours
• A minimum of 2,500 PIC hours on multi-crew, glass cockpit aircraft with an FMS coupled to APFDS.
• Type rating: A320 (valid for a minimum of 2 months at time of joining)
• Current on A320; flown the A320 family within the last 12 months.
• 3 years as an A320 Instructor and/or Examiner (TRI/TRE).
• 1,000 hours of FSTD training.
• 1,000 hours of LIFUS/IOE experience.
• License: ATPL (ICAO)
• Medical: Class 1
• ELP: ICAO Level 4 or higher
• Must not have attained the age of 59 on the day of joining.

Where hours were accumulated with in‑flight relief, 75% of the total hours may be counted toward the required minimums.

Preferred

• Current TRE/TRI approval is an advantage.
